P Pling Legal Center

Privacy Policy for Pling

Effective date: March 17, 2026

1. Who operates the service

Pling is operated by 김성현.

2. Service overview

Pling is a private journaling and reflection service. It is not a medical service, therapy service, crisis service, or diagnostic product.

3. What data we collect

Account data

We may collect your email address, account ID, login records, and security-related events needed to create, secure, and operate your account.

Journal, emotion, and AI output data

When you create or review entries, we may process journal text, optional emotion labels or emoji, timestamps related to entry creation and editing, and AI-generated outputs associated with your account.

Photo data

If you attach a photo, we store that photo and related metadata needed to display and sync the entry. The current AI implementation does not send uploaded photos as model input.

Location data

If you use location-related features, we may collect precise latitude and longitude, exact address or place context, optional location tags, and location data associated with saved entries. Pling does not use background location as part of the standard service. The current AI implementation uses generalized location tags or place-pattern summaries rather than raw coordinates or exact addresses.

Notification data

If you enable reminders, the app may store reminder preferences and timezone or scheduling settings on your device and use local notifications.

Diagnostics

The current mobile app does not integrate a third-party crash reporting or cloud messaging SDK.

4. Why we use data

  • To create and secure your account
  • To save and sync your journal entries
  • To display photos, precise location, and place context you choose to attach to entries
  • To send reminders if you enable them using local notifications
  • To generate AI summaries, insights, and reflections for supported product features
  • To prevent abuse, fraud, and security issues
  • To investigate failures and improve reliability
  • To comply with legal obligations

5. AI features and AI service providers

AI features in Pling are enabled by default for new accounts, and you can turn them off in Settings at any time. Current AI requests are routed through our backend to the configured Anthropic model.

Current AI inputs are limited to recent journal text, emotion labels, and coarse location-tag or place-pattern summaries used for discovery features. The current implementation does not send uploaded photos, exact location coordinates, or exact addresses as model input.

AI output may be inaccurate, incomplete, biased, or otherwise unhelpful. AI output is not medical, mental health, therapy, crisis, legal, or financial advice.

6. How we share data and who processes it

We do not sell your personal data. We may share data only with service providers that help us operate the service and only for the purposes described in this policy.

  • Hosting and backend infrastructure: Google Cloud Run
  • Database: Supabase (PostgreSQL)
  • Object storage: Google Cloud Storage
  • Transactional email: Resend
  • AI processing: Anthropic

We may also disclose data if required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, security, and integrity of Pling, our users, or others.

7. Data retention

We keep personal data only for as long as needed to operate your account, provide the service, and meet legal, security, and recordkeeping obligations.

  • Account data: until account deactivation or deletion, subject to lawful retention
  • Journal entries, attached photos, saved location data, and generated discovery history: when you withdraw your account, deletion may be processed asynchronously through separate backend batch jobs, so data may remain in active systems until that processing completes
  • Reminder settings: until reminders are disabled or local app data is removed
  • Operational logs and recovery copies: limited retention may apply depending on infrastructure and legal requirements

8. Your rights and deletion requests

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your data, and to withdraw consent for optional processing where applicable.

You can request account withdrawal through the in-app flow, by visiting https://pling-legal.pages.dev/delete-account, or by emailing waverdeep@gmail.com. The current withdrawal flow disables account access first, and associated content deletion may then be completed asynchronously through separate backend deletion processing.

9. Children and age restriction

Pling is not directed to children under 14. You must be at least 14 years old, or older if required by law where you live, to use the service.

10. International transfers

Your data may be processed in countries other than your own, including where our hosting, storage, email, and AI service providers operate. Those countries may have different data protection rules than your home jurisdiction.

11. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards to protect personal data. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date and provide notice where appropriate.

13. Contact

If you have privacy questions or requests, contact waverdeep@gmail.com.
